Get ready for school in 2021

Students in the library

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all students and parents for working together with us as we approached the many challenges and changes that occurred throughout 2020. Over the course of this term it has been a pleasure to be able to offer some of the extra curricula activities that add value to the educational opportunities here at Jamison. We look forward to increasing opportunities next year, to recommencing our Parent Connect evenings so that you can stay informed and to developing educational opportunities for your child. A particular focus next year will be student attendance and programs that target the skills required to complete NAPLAN and the Higher School Certificate.

Attached below you will find the subject stationery requirements for next year. All students are expected to have books for each course they study. All students are expected to have a calculator for Mathematics and a fully charged laptop each day as part of our BYOD program

Arrangements for the start of the new school year in 2021 are as follows.
  • Staff return on Wednesday and Thursday 27 and 28 January 2021.
  • Students in Years 7, 11 and 12 will return to school on Friday, January 29 for Week 1 A.
  • Students in Years 8, 9 and 10 return on Monday, February 1 for Week 2B.
  • The school day begins at 8.25am with UConnect meetings. It is important that students arrive at school by this time so that learning is maximised. A copy of the bell times can be found in the About our School section of this site.

I remind you that it is an expectation of the school, supported by our Parents & Citizens Association, that all students wear the Jamison High School uniform. The Uniform Shop will be open from Thursday 14 January 2021 until school resumes between the hours of 8am and 2pm. If you know the sizes you are after then you may order online and pickup. If you need to try on the uniform please ensure you make an appointment. The attached form has all the details. All students are required to wear fully enclosed black leather shoes. Please find attached below a copy of the uniform policy

I encourage all parents and carers to join the School P&C. This is a very important organisation that meet in weeks four and eight of each term. It is an opportunity for parents to contribute to the school and play a role in shaping the direction the school takes in all programs.

Finally, may I extend my best wishes to all members of the school community for a safe and relaxing holiday.

Yours sincerely,
Glyn Trethewy
