Our school faculties
Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA)
Our creative and performing arts faculty provides an extensive curriculum that develops students skills in dance, drama, music and visual arts. Students are encouraged to explore their creative expression, develop confidence through performance and appreciate the value of the creative arts in the modern world.
Technology and Applied Studies
As technology rapidly evolves, students must gain the skills to navigate the future. In industrial arts, they use modern equipment to design and build creative solutions through project-based learning. The design and digital technologies faculty inspires students to develop future-focused, transferable skills through courses such as food technology, hospitality, textiles, industrial technology, and information and software technology.
English
An understanding of the English language is central to how we communicate and essential for intellectual, social and emotional development. The study of English should develop a love of literature and learning and be challenging and enjoyable. It develops skills to enable students to experiment with ideas and expression. English enables students to recognise and use a diversity of approaches and texts to meet the growing array of literacy demands, including higher-order social, aesthetic and cultural literacy.
Human Society and its Environment / Languages other than English (LOTE)
Human society and its environment explores how people interact with the world and how societies function and change. Our courses equip students with the skills to participate actively and responsibly as informed global citizens. The study of history and geography fosters critical thinking and understanding of the world, while our LOTE teachers offer engaging courses in Japanese and French that promote cultural awareness and appreciation.
Mathematics
The mathematics faculty delivers a diverse and relevant curriculum that maintains engagement and ensures student reflection. Through the cross-curricular science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) program, we offer a hands-on approach to learning by applying mathematical concepts and problem-solving skills in real-world situations.
Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE)
The PDHPE program at Jamison High School plays an important role in enhancing student resilience and connectedness. Students develop the skills to research, apply, appraise and critically analyse health and movement concepts in order to maintain and improve their health, safety, wellbeing and participation in physical activity.
Science / Agriculture
The Science faculty at Jamison High School fosters inquiry-based learning that helps students build a deep understanding of the physical, chemical, and biological world. Our Agriculture program further develops their skills in sustainable production and marketing practices that are both environmentally and socially responsible.
Inclusive Education Unit
The Inclusive Education Unit at Jamison High School consists of seven classes designed to specifically meet the needs of students with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Each class has a maximum of 7 students so that their individual learning, social, emotional, behavioural and communication needs can be met.
Resources and technology
Our school uses modern technology and digital learning tools. Our resources help students learn, create and stay connected. As a NSW public school, we have access to shared programs and tools available to all schools in the state.
Aspires Café
The Aspires Café is a newly built commercial-quality kitchen that is operated by our hospitality students, offering them hands-on experience in the food and retail industry.
Library
Our school library is a dynamic, multipurpose learning space that caters to a wide range of learning needs. This includes an array of print and digital media, fiction and non-fiction sections to cater to all subject curriculum and student interests, computers, and stylish seating for our recess and lunch cinema sessions.
Sports Hall
Our sports hall features multipurpose indoor courts, storage areas, and upgraded sporting facilities.
Gym
Our gym includes advanced fitness equipment designed to enhance physical education and encourage healthy habits.
Agricultural plot
We have our own agriculture plot, giving our students hands-on experience in farming practices and technology. Our plot includes horses, chickens and sheep, and a range of crops. The agricultural plot is used by students from Years 7-12, and especially caters for those students wishing to study vocational education and training (VET) primary industries.
Industrial Arts workshops
Students at Jamison High School have access to a state-of-the-art industrial arts wing, complete with computer-operated wood and metal lathes, computer numeric control (CNC) machines and 3D printers. This key learning area is used extensively as part of our STEM initiatives.
Science labs
Our six science laboratories have been recently refurbished with complete workstations that are fully equipped with industry-grade laboratory equipment. Our students across Years 7-12 learn how to conduct scientific research and carry out their own experiments in a safe and controlled environment with trained staff to guide them.
Nursing education block
We have a purpose-built nursing education block to support our senior students enrolled in the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) nursing course. This was created in partnership with our Trade School initiative for Nursing and Allied Health careers.
