The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.
PRC at Jamison High School
Students in Years 7 to 9 are encouraged to complete the Premier’s Reading Challenge. It is a Library Literacy initiative run in conjunction with Year 7 English classes. Students in Years 8 and 9 can join the Challenge by reading independently. Each year more and more students complete the Challenge and many students are awarded medallions for taking part in the Challenge every year since Kindergarten.
Awards
Students who complete the Challenge, and their parents, are invited to a Premier’s Reading Challenge Celebration Morning Tea at the end of the year. Their awards are presented at this event by the Principal, Deputy Principal and Teacher Librarians.
